Dr. Maria Bakopoulou, Neurosurgeon, was born in Larissa in 1976. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras in 2001 and subsequently specialized in Neurosurgery at the University Hospital of Larissa, obtaining her specialty title in 2009. She worked for two consecutive years as an Assistant Registrar at the University Hospital of Larissa.
Since then, she has worked as a private neurosurgeon and Scientific Director of the Neurosurgical Departments of private clinics (IASO Thessaly, General Clinic Animus Kyanos Stavros). For the last years, she has been an external associate of IASO Thessaly and Thessaly General Clinic. She now lives and works in Cyprus, also practices fully contracted with the General Healthcare System (GESY). She is external associate doctor of the clinics BLUE CROSS and EVANGELISMOS in Paphos and the clinic ORAMA in Lemessos.
Her daily clinical practice focuses on brain and spinal surgery and on functional neurosurgery, with a particular emphasis on the treatment of chronic pain and functional disorders as spasticity.
She has participated in numerous educational seminars across Europe and India, focusing on interventional pain management, and she applies all the latest treatment techniques guided by fluoroscopy and ultrasound.
She is a member of the Larissa Medical Association, the Pancyprian Medical Association, the Hellenic and European Spine Societies, the Hellenic Society of Algology, the World Institute of Pain, and the International Association for the Study of Pain.
Her goal is giving continuous care to patients with consistency, integrity, and honesty, by applying safe conventional and minimally invasive techniques in managing conditions of the brain, spine, and chronic pain syndromes.
